Who we are

Boost Competitions Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described on this page. We are registered in Scotland under company number SC890779, at 34A Viking Road, Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, ML6 9SE.

What we collect

When you enter a competition, we collect:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your telephone number
• Your billing and, where given, delivery address
• Your date of birth or confirmation that you are 18 or over
• Details of your entry, including your ticket numbers

If you enter by post, we collect the same information from your entry.

We do not collect or store your card details. Payments are handled by Shopify Payments and, where you choose them, other payment providers. Your card details go directly to them and we never see them.

When you use our website we also collect standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type and pages visited, through cookies and similar technologies.

Marketing

We will only send you marketing about future competitions if you have agreed to receive it. You can withdraw that agreement at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or by contacting us.

Withdrawing consent to marketing does not affect emails we must send you about an entry you have made, such as your ticket numbers or information about the draw.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with organisations that help us run the competition:

• Shopify — our website and checkout platform
• Shopify Payments and other payment providers — to take payment
• Resend — to send transactional emails such as your ticket numbers
• Vercel and Upstash — the services that allocate and store ticket numbers
• Our accountants and professional advisers, where necessary

Some of these providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where they do, appropriate safeguards apply, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

The winner's details

If you win, we will publish your first name and general location on our website and social media so that other entrants can see the competition was genuinely won. We will not publish your full address, email or telephone number.

If you would prefer your details not to be published, tell us and we will discuss what we can reasonably do while still being able to show the competition was run fairly.

How long we keep it

• Entry and ticket records — 7 years after the draw, so we can demonstrate the competition was run fairly and meet accounting obligations
• Order and payment records — 7 years, as required for tax purposes
• Marketing preferences — until you withdraw consent, and then a record of that withdrawal
• Website technical logs — up to 12 months

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• be told how your information is used, which is what this page does;
• ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
• have inaccurate information corrected;
• ask us to delete your information, where we have no continuing reason to keep it;
• ask us to restrict how we use it;
• object to us using it on the basis of legitimate interests;
• ask us to transfer it to another provider; and
• withdraw consent to marketing at any time.

To exercise any of these, contact us. We will respond within one month.

Please note that while a competition is live, or while we are required to keep records showing it was run fairly, we may not be able to delete entry records. We will explain if that applies.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, including keeping your basket and completing checkout. We also use cookies that help us understand how the site is used.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking all cookies will prevent checkout from working.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can try to put it right.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page, and where the change is significant we will tell entrants directly.
